Expert PDF provides two separate ways a user can provide a signature to a document. This article will explain the difference between our brand new E-Sign Module and our newly improved local Digital Signature feature.
Each of these signature types is legally binding and a valuable way to protect your documents.
Local Digital Signature
The local digital signature uses a certificate that is stored inside of your Windows environment. Its primary use is for you to apply your own signature to a document.
You can collaborate with this feature, having multiple users add their own local signature. However, each certificate can only be verified on the system that it came from. Each signer will also need a PDF application capable of adding a signature.

E-Sign
We have incorporated a complete electronic signature solution. The main difference is that the authentication of the signatures is managed outside of your local system.
You can create document packages that request specific types of signatures from one or more signers. Your package will be sent via e-mail to each signer. Once they have signed the document you will be notified that the process is complete.
The E-Sign feature is best used when you need to request signatures from other people. You can also opt to use this to sign your own documents.
